Homemade healthy food pirandai/ velds grape thovayal recipes

The scientific name of pirandai is Cissus Quadrangularis

Pirandai /velds grape thovayal recipe:



Ingredients:

Pirandai

Red chilies 🌶 9

Ginger - a small piece

Urad dal - 1 half tablespoon

Channa dal - 1 half tablespoon

Tamarind - Lemmon size

Salt 🧂 as required



Method of preparation:

Wash well the pirandai and Before peel, the pirandai have to grease your hands with sesame oils to prevent itching. string the pirandai and peel the sharp angular edges from all sides and set aside.


Heat the tablespoon of oil in Kadai; saute the pirandai and small piece of ginger on medium heat until the pirandai turns pale green. Remove from Kadai and keep it from aside.



In the same Kadai add another tbsp of oil add urad dal, channa dal, red chilies, and salt as required and saute until the dal turns golden brown and remove from Kadai and keep it from aside. Switch off the stove and leave it to cool and add chopped coconut 🥥 and tamarind.


Once it cool grinds the pirandai with the roasted dal ingredients, to a slightly coarse paste and then turns on Kadai add tbsp of oil and mustard seeds then pour the Grinded Paste in Kadai and saute it until becoming a thick paste;

Sauteing the pirandai well in oil is just because you will have itching in the throat after eating or while eating. After sauteing well the thick paste of pirandai thovayal is ready.



Mix this pirandai thovayal with hot rice 🍛 top with 2tbsp of sesame oil and enjoy it, and you can have a side dish of pappad or vegetable fry’s; also this thovayal is tasty with idly and dosa too.
